Job Description
BIO Ventures for Global Health is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save lives by accelerating the development of novel biotechnology-based drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics that address the unmet medical needs of the developing world.
BVGH fulfills this mission, in part, by bringing together capable biotech innovators with academic experts, product development partnerships, and donors to create partnerships focused on global health product development. We reach out to companies to learn about their technology and products and to make them aware of opportunities in global health that are consistent with their strategic objectives. BVGH acts as an honest broker that helps the parties to solve conceptual, contractual and practical problems that present barriers to the formation of these partnerships.
The Executive Assistant will possess exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain business relationships with a high degree of professionalism. The successful candidate will have excellent organization and planning skills with superb attention to detail and analytical thinking. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and to prioritize work and manage deadlines and deliverables. The Executive Assistant will be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with rapid change in priorities, and will have the ability to use discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive or confidential information. S/He will also have the ability to foster teamwork and contribute to a positive, energetic, collaborative environment. The EA will be independent, capable of working effectively with minimum guidance and follow-up as needed without supervision.
Principle Responsibilities
CEO Support
- Oversee scheduling, calendars and expense reports
- Plan travel efficiently and cost effectively and respond to changed needs
- Provide up-to-the-minute support and respond to changes in schedule and priority
- Compose and proofread correspondence, memos, presentations and other materials
- Contribute to organization and maintenance of company records
Board Support
- Maintain Board minutes, rosters and contact information
- Prepare and plan board events
- Coordinate production of board materials and correspondence
- Provide additional administrative duties, as assigned
Skills Required
- Superior knowledge of basic computer programs (MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access others)
- Ability to take initiative, organize and complete tasks and special projects with a minimum of supervision, and to manage several tasks at once.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to compose and type correspondence accurately and proficiently.
- Ability to work well with people and to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Comfort with information technology, able to troubleshoot and problem solve independently.
- Available for the CEO via phone and email after normal business hours.
- Strong ability to write, edit and proofread with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Polished, professional demeanor and an outstanding ability to balance competing priorities.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree, plus ten years similar experience in comparable executive management support
Travel
Some travel may be required.
