Speeding the development of new medicines for neglected diseases is not without its challenges. To meet these challenges, biopharmaceutical innovators, global disease experts, and funders must have the opportunity to connect. BIO Ventures for Global Health launched the Partnering for Global Health Forum in 2008 to create that opportunity.
Bringing together innovation, expertise, and funding
The Partnering for Global Health Forum is a unique setting where global health leaders, biopharmaceutical innovators, and funders from the public and private sectors can come together to share knowledge, experience, ideas, and lessons learned. They address barriers and challenges – both scientific and financial – to building the pipeline for diseases of the developing world. The value of this Forum is that it facilitates communication amongst disparate groups – who would normally not come together in such numbers. It brings together:
- Companies seeking to learn how they can contribute to global health
- Funders who are seeking to support the most innovative technologies
- Global health leaders who want to identify industry resources that can contribute the most to their missions
The 2010 Partnering for Global Health Forum was held the week of May 3 in Chicago.
The 2008 Partnering for Global Health Forum was co-hosted by BIO Ventures for Global Health and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Learn more about the meeting here.
