Good Results in Program to Boost TB Detection

A new program aimed at improving detection of tuberculosis (TB) in northern Tanzania has demonstrated promising results, IRIN reports. About 47 percent of adults newly diagnosed with TB in Tanzania are HIV-positive, and without proper treatment, estimates suggest that 90% of HIV-positive people who contract active TB will die within three months.
